Hike to the summit of Preachers Rock on the AT. Climb from the beautiful trailhead views by starting at Woody Gap. The area includes large parking lot and restrooms just off the main road. You will see the trailhead just past the restrooms & trail map. Follow trees marked with the AT’s famous white blazes. Although the hike is just 2 miles round trip the trail climbs the elevation to the summit fairly quickly through a few sharp switchbacks. After passing some large rock boulders at about 1 mile you’ll see a preview of the stunning view through the trees. Hike just a bit further to the rocky face of what is known as Preachers Rock! Take a rest on the rock for a snack or hang some hammocks in the tree line.

Enjoy a returning hike back that is almost nearly all downhill completing the hike at just at 2 miles (round trip).
